 BEST HORSES BRED

I’ve been breeding horses on a small scale for almost 20 years. Having ridden in point-to-points and under rules, I started by trying to produce N.H. winners. I had some success, breeding 9 individual winners of about 20 races. Only the last few carried the Stormhill prefix. The best of the racehorses was undoubtedly STORMHILL STAG. Stag won 7 races under rules and was placed 2nd 8 times and 3rd 5 times in a long and honourable career. He is out of the same mare as STORMHILL MICHAEL.

Recently our horses have excelled eventing, with STORMHILL KOSSACK flying the flag. Kossack, who is ridden by Andrew Nicholson, has been incredibly consistent so far this season and has been placed 3rd and 4th and 7th in his Intermediates which include 2 ** Internationals , and was also 2nd in his first Advanced. He has now got 131 BHT points.

STORMHILL MICHAEL Michael has WON a **event and was third at the International 2* at Punchestown, Ireland. He now has 169 points. He is ridden by Paul Tapner.
STORMHILL RUSSIAN has also performed well. She is out of the same mare, Lucky Harvest, as is the stallion Stormhill Miller, sire of Michael. Miller is now in Ireland, where he is covering a substantial number of mares.

Stormhill Firestar has yet to earn her place here, but, as she is full sister to both Kossack and Storytime and closely related to Storhill Michael, I feel that her recent win at the SW Dressage Championships for novice horses has earnt her a place for a spectacular horse with enormous potential.

The best show-jumpers I have bred so far are STORMHILL BARNDANCE and STORMHILL STORYTIME. Barndance used to be ridden by our daughter Sarah and jumped up to 1.30m level in France and Spain. She is now ridden by Lois Oiviera and jumping very well here in England, with recent placings at Royal Windsor.
Storytime jumped well at Devon County and recently won a Foxhunter class at Redpost. She is ridden by Sammy- Joe Coffin and making excellent progress. Another good jumper is STORMHILL STARLIGHT who has given much pleasure, working his way up from being Pony Club Area Champion three years in a row to jumping Foxhunter classes. Interestingly, he is by Kremlin out of a purebred Arab mare.

The best of the Coloured Horses is STORMHILL MINK, who started his very successful career with us, winning both the CHAPS futurity foal and the West Midlands Coloured foal, as well as the West Midland Hunter Foal classes and being Champion foal. He also won the West Mids Stallion Show best Yearling class. I sold him on and he has continued winning and is currently at stud with Becky Walker. www.stormhillmink.com He is the sire of the HOYS winner, Electric Storm. In August 2007 Mink himself won the Coloured Hunter Class at the Scotish Horse show and qualified for the Horse of the Year Show this year.
